New Yorkers E-Redirection (NYER) is a project designed to connect New Yorkers with a wide range of public resources and services, with a particular emphasis on serving Spanish and English-speaking communities. The project aims to be a comprehensive resource for finding language learning resources, academic materials, shelter and food assistance, and much more
NYER is organized into four main sections:
3 months
An old design that needs to be consistent, have a better user interface, have its own brand image and logos
Create a better user flow, and add consistent design layout in the entire design.
Product Designer and Developer
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

To better understand my users I created personas and looked into secondary research to formulate them.
One of the principal user groups are hispanic people trying to learn English and learn about other resources around their community. However, they have certain difficulty when looking for resources online due to the three main following reasons;
When I gathered the user information and demographics, I moved into the re-design process which changed color palette, text fonts and website layout.
Online Literacy:
Online pages only in English:
Online pages too difficult to understand due to amount of content in one place:
One Usability Study was made to understand the user and how they felt about the product before change the design. Usability Studies with the new design are to be made.
Usability Study; with previous design
The website features a page dedicated to accessibility, offering guides and information on how to use the available accessibility options.
The website's color scheme is designed to provide optimal contrast and readability for all users, including those with vision impairments.
The avoidance of excessive colors application that makes the website more accessible for users with cognitive disabilities or sensory sensitivities, plus readable fonts with hierarchical fonts order.

The feedback and support I have received from library workers, former teachers, and family members has been invaluable, and I am grateful for their willingness to contribute to this project. The enthusiasm and interest shown by the NYER community is also encouraging, and I am motivated to continue developing this project. It is heartening to see that there is already a community of support for this project, even though it is still in its early stages.
Through this project, I have gained a greater understanding of the linguistic diversity of the city and the importance of providing multilingual resources to serve the community. While the current design is in Spanish, I am committed to translating the information into English to ensure that the content is accessible and useful for a wider audience. My goal is to create clear and concise descriptions for each section of the design to effectively communicate the purpose and value of the project.
